This Creative Engagement Project, Comic Strip Art, was a successful collaboration between a professional animator and students, focusing on the fundamentals of 2D visual storytelling. Under expert guidance, students moved beyond simple drawing to master character design and environmental world-building. The workshop emphasised “animatable” design-teaching students how to create characters with personality and consistent volume, alongside backgrounds that used perspective to tell a story. Key outcomes included a significant “leveling up” of technical skills and a better understanding of the professional production pipeline. Ultimately, the project was a success, leaving students with industry-standard portfolio pieces and the professional guidance for their further education.
