Catherine McAuley School’s Creative Engagement Project, “Brighter Together”, was developed to enhance the school environment through a calm, welcoming mural featuring simple shapes and fauna. The design was selected with careful consideration of our special school setting, with a focus on creating a soothing visual space that supports student wellbeing. Its location near the horticulture room also reflects and complements the natural learning environment within that area of the school.
The project involved collaboration between students, staff, and a mural Artist Catherine O’Halloran from Draw Out, beginning with workshops where students explored ideas and created initial designs. These were refined into a final concept which was then brought to life on the selected wall. Students played an active role in the painting process, contributing to different stages of the mural’s development.
The finished artwork reflects student voice, creativity, and teamwork, and has had a positive impact on the overall atmosphere of the school.
