Through the glass of school life
This TY glass project, titled “Through the Glass of School Life,” guided students from initial ideas to a finished collaborative artwork which ended up being mounted on to 4 panels. At the commencement stage, students explored the theme by discussing school experiences, sketching ideas, and looking at stain glass ideas . They learned about colour, simple composition, and how light interacts with glass. During development, students created simple designs reflecting different aspects of school life such as well being, learning, and extracurricular activities. They practiced cutting glass, assembling pieces, and applying leading and safety procedures. Collaboration and problem-solving were key throughout the process. At completion, all individual panels were combined into a final installation which will be displayed in the school. This project enhanced students’ artistic skills, confidence, and appreciation for craft, while also fostering teamwork and a strong sense of pride in contributing to a shared piece representing their school community.
