Musical Showcase
Our project focused on offering a series of drama and dance workshops to Transition Year students, culminating in an end of term performance. Through this initiative, we aimed to encourage participation in artistic performance to build self confidence, foster a sense of belonging in the school community and promote engagement in the arts. This brought together drama and dance to allow them to explore being creative, and movement through dance and performance.
Students worked individually and as part of teams throughout this project, which promoted student leadership and gave them chances to guide and support others. On a practical level, it taught them the key elements needed to create and bring a performance to life, both on and off stage – elements such as characterisation, choreography, communication and stage management were essential to the success of their performance.
The project culminated in a final live performance presented to an audience; it showcased the participants’ creative work and the skills developed throughout the programme. This final event celebrated the participants’ achievements and provide a platform for artistic expression, confidence-building, and community engagement through the performing arts.
