Transition year students and Service users of St. Joseph’s Training Centre Ability West met once a week for 4 weeks to learn how to make the traditional Irish percussion instrument the Bodhrán. Participants started by gluing the wooden frame together, sanding the frame, stretching the velum skin, tacking it in place, sanding and placing wooden handles, and decorating the finished drums. Participants then learned 4 basic drumming patterns and played as a group together to finish off their Creative Engagement Project.
