The legacy Tree Project

The Legacy Tree Creative Engagement Project was developed as part of the Transition Year programme to promote creativity, collaboration, and environmental awareness. A group of 20 students, who chose to participate, took part in a two-day hands-on workshop led by Glenn Gibson in February 2026.

Students learned practical skills in 3D contouring, wire manipulation, and joining techniques, while creating individual sculptural elements. They explored ideas of scale and proportion as they built their pieces. These individual pieces were combined into a large-scale, Legacy Tree, reflecting both personal expression and collective identity.

The project encouraged teamwork, communication, and resilience, while also giving students insight into professional artistic practice. It was highly engaging and supported creativity, confidence, and self-discovery.

The final piece was installed within the school and showcased at the TY Graduation, creating a lasting legacy and a strong sense of pride and achievement among the students and wider school community.
