Transition Year students in Glenamaddy Community School have completed their Creative Engagement Project 2024.
Inspiration for the project came from silhouette portraiture which was a big trend in the 18th and 19th centuries. Silhouettes were quick to produce and effective at capturing the physical appearance of an individual at a given time.
The project was created in the Enginering/Technology room. The students were introduced to Inkscape – a vector graphics editor – which will enable them to prepare and edit files for the laser cutter. Their new laser cutter and 3D printer were well tested in the process. The materials they used were birch ply and perspex.
