Here are a selection of photographs from our bodhran making workshop, held in the Pastoral Centre, Newtownsmith, Galway with TY’s from Coláiste Muire Máthair Galway and adult service users of St Joseph’s Training Centre Galway.
The workshop took place over 4 weeks and aimed to bring students and adults together to work on arts and crafts projects in the community. We were lucky enough to have Paul Vignoles come in a teach the group how to prepare and construct a bodhran, from putting the frame and handles together, stretching and tacking the drum skin, to placing designs on the frame and skin. They also learned how to play a few beats at the end of the project.
